The Devil Came on Horseback is a documentary film that I worked with Annie Sundberg and Ricki Stern of Breakthru Films, which illustrates the continuing Darfur Conflict in Sudan. Based partly on the book by former U.S. Marine Captain Brian Steidle and his experiences while working as an unarmed military observer for the African Union.

The Devil Came on Horseback premiered at Sundance 07, and opened nationwide at the IFC New York in July 2007. It won the Working Films Award at the 2007 Full Frame Documentary Festival, and Best Cinematography 2007 – United Nations Association Film Festival (UNAFF). The film was also nominated for an Emmy in Best Documentary category in 2009. The film asks viewers to become educated about the on-going genocide in Darfur and laments the failure of the US and others to end this crisis.
